Massage Cupping
Aromatherapy Cocoon Wraps for Weight-Loss & Cellulite
Aromatherapy Cocoon Wraps are a new treatment offered at Stillpoint. These are specifically designed to help with weight-loss, cellulite, and clearing out toxins after/during smoking cessation.
By creating suction and negative pressure, this special type of massage cupping also loosens adhesions and lifts connective tissue, bringing blood flow to stagnant muscles and skin. The effect on the nervous system is sedating and is widely used for high blood pressure, anxiety, fatigue, chronic headache, neuralgia, and rheumatism. It also helps with breaking down adhesions and softening the appearance of cellulite. Lymph drainage using Massage Cupping can benefit pre- and post-operative conditions and may assist in the healing process.
Massage Cupping is fun, result-oriented, and the treatment feels great! For several thousand years therapeutic applications of cupping have been historically documented. The Chinese claimed in 28AD, “Acupuncture and Cupping... more than half the ills cured”. In Egypt, 1550 BC, there was an ancient medical textbook discussing the application of cups for fever, pain, vertigo, menstruation, appetite, constipation and “healing crisis”. In Europe, cupping was still used into the late 1800s and 1900s.
We offer two different types of cocoon wraps, each with a different set of aromatherapy essential oils that change with every treatment for 8 weeks. Both begin with a Massage Cupping technique to stimulate blood flow, while draining excess fluids and toxins; this makes it much easier for the essential oil blends to be absorbed more therapeutically into the body. In these unique applications, we have two main types of cups used at Stillpoint:
1 -- Traditional glass cups in which we create a suction with a heat cotton ball into the cup, removing it and quickly placing the cool cup on the body which creates a suction; and,
2 -- Manual vacuum cups in which we use a tool to create a vacuum while the cup is on the body.
The massage cupping technique used is a gentle version of Chinese “moving cups”; massage oil is applied and the cup is moved over specific area after a slight suction is obtained. There is no irritation to the skin or the body. In fact, cupping can draw inflammation and heat that is trapped in deeper layers out of the body. The negative suction stimulates the body to bring collagen and elastin to the area. Thighs, hips, buttocks, the abdomen, and arms are usually the areas that are focused on for Weight-loss or Cellulite treatments, while more overall treatments can be used for Smoking Cessation to help the body detoxify from the chemicals of cigarettes. After cupping an area, the proper essential oil is applied and covered with blankets, until the whole body (except for the upper neck and face) is wrapped up. While the client is relaxing, Micro Facial Cupping is applied to lift and clear out puffiness, and improve the circulation in the face. Then the body is unwrapped and extra oil is gently massaged into the skin. Ultimately, one leaves with the genuine feeling of spending time at a spa!
